Rainy Run Days

"If I can run in the rain & I seriously hate the rain - you have no excuse not to run too"

It's been a wet, cold, dreary week in the Washington, DC area. The 60degree weather we had to roll in the new year has turned on us and the cold dreary constant dripping rain has replaced it. This is the time when New Years Resolutions to workout are kissed goodbye- that little voice in your head is saying just stay on the couch and eat another cookie....

I posted the above quote to my runners on Tuesday -before a rainy track workout that saw an awesome turnout! As I write this I'm looking out the window at the only too real prospect of having a rainy tempo run tonight...... Did I mention I hate wet runs and it's dark out.

I'm staring out trying to decide if I should jump- jump into the cold, wet, and dark night or stay wrapped on the warm couch with the dog on my lap (did I mention he hates rain too).

Coaching is equal parts knowledge, experience, and motivation. I can honestly say I have never regretted a workout- not the ones in the rain, not the one in snowmageddon, not the race in the hail, not the long run in the hot sun that resulted in crazy shorts chaffing- not one of them.

I'll be running tempo tonight (yes in the rain)- what will you be doing?
